Cody’s Community Terms and Conditions

Introduction

Welcome to Cody’s Community, a South African-based WhatsApp Community, consisting of four distinct categories: Christian-based groups, Information Technology Skills Improvement Groups, General Interest Groups and A Writers Club with a fan club dedicated to the works of author Othello C. Verrocchio. These Terms and Conditions govern your participation in the community and define the obligations and rights of members.

Membership

    1. Eligibility: Membership is open to individuals aged 13 and older.

    2. Registration: By joining the WhatsApp group, you acknowledge acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

    3. Member Responsibilities: Members are expected to engage with respect and adhere to the community’s guidelines as outlined herein.

Community Guidelines

    1. Respectful Communication: Any form of hate speech, harassment, or use of profanity is strictly prohibited.

    2. Advertising and Promotions: Only authorized community announcements may contain promotional content; personal advertisements are not permitted.

    3. Buying and Selling: Transactions involving the sale or purchase of goods or services are not allowed without prior approval from the Community admin. [Please familiarise yourself with Cody’s Community Advertising And Promotion Policy.]

    4. Confidentiality: Members are expected to respect the confidentiality of any personal or sensitive information shared within the group.

Content Moderation

    1. Admin Approval: All members must seek administrative approval before posting external links, files, or public announcements.

    2. Prohibited Content: Spam, phishing attempts, and any form of malicious content are strictly prohibited.

    3. Reporting Violations: Members are encouraged to report any rule violations or inappropriate content directly to the group administrators.

Intellectual Property

    1. Ownership: All original content shared by Othello C. Verrocchio, or any other Content Creator within the community remains the intellectual property of the author.

    2. Credits: Members must properly acknowledge and credit the author when sharing content from the community outside of the group.

Data Protection

    1. Personal Data: Any personal data collected is solely for the purpose of administering the community and ensuring its smooth operation.

    2. Confidentiality: The administrators are committed to safeguarding members’ personal information and maintaining data security in compliance with applicable laws.

Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

    1. No Warranties: Participation in Cody’s WhatsApp Community is at the member’s own risk. The administrators make no warranties, either express or implied, regarding the community or its content.

    2. Limitation of Liability: The administrators of the group are not liable for any damages, whether direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential, arising from participation in the community.

Termination of Membership

    1. Grounds for Termination: Membership may be terminated for violations of the group’s rules, engaging in spam activities, or harassment of other members.

    2. Notice of Termination: Members whose participation is terminated will receive notice of such termination from the administrators.

Governing Law

    1. Jurisdiction: These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of South Africa, with jurisdiction in Gauteng.

    2. Applicable Law: The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) governs all aspects of data protection and privacy within the community.

Updates and Amendments

    1. Notification of Changes: Any updates or amendments to these Terms and Conditions will be communicated to members by the administrators.

    2. Effective Date: Changes will take effect immediately upon notification.
