Q: How do I help a friend join Cody’s WhatsApp Community?

A: To have a friend join, simply reach out to the admin through the provided contact information or share an invite link for the Start Here Group. Be sure to have them read and agree to the Terms and Conditions before joining.

Q: What is Cody’s Community about?

A: Cody's Community is a space for writers to collaborate and learn it is also for fans of author Othello C. Verrocchio, It is also predominantly a Christian Community, where fellow believers can chat in Christian groups, discuss books, share the Gospel, collaborate on projects, and support each other in our faith and interests, and finally it is a Skills improvement and General Interest Community as well

2. WhatsApp Group-Related Issues

Q: I accidentally left the group. How can I rejoin?

A: Don’t worry! If you leave by accident, simply contact the group admin or use the invite link if one is available to rejoin.

Q: Why can’t I send messages to the group?

A: The group might be temporarily in Admin-Only Mode where only admins can post. Check if there’s an announcement being made or if this is for moderation purposes.

Q: How do I mute the group if I’m receiving too many notifications?

A: On WhatsApp, you can mute notifications by opening the group chat, tapping on the group name at the top, and selecting the “Mute Notifications” option for 8 hours, 1 week, or even 1 year.

Q: Can I share external links or promotions in the group?

A: Sharing links and promotions is generally restricted unless approved by the admin. We want to keep the group focused on our community’s discussions. Please contact the admin if you wish to share anything relevant.

Q: How do I report inappropriate content or behaviour?

A: If you notice inappropriate behaviour or content in the group, please privately message the admin or a moderator immediately. We take these reports seriously and will address them as per our Moderation Policy.

3. Group Rules and Etiquette

Q: What are the group rules?

A: Be respectful to all members, avoid spamming, do not promote outside products or services without permission, and follow any specific guidelines laid out for the group. A full list of rules can be found in our Group Code of Conduct.

Q: What happens if someone breaks the group rules?

A: A warning will be issued to the individual by a moderator. If the behaviour persists, the admin reserves the right to suspend or remove the person from the group in line with our Moderation Policy.

Q: Can I be a moderator?

A: As the community grows, we will appoint trusted members as moderators. You can express your interest by messaging the admin, but please note that moderators are selected based on trust, activity, and contributions to the group.

4. Privacy and Security

Q: How is my privacy protected in Cody’s WhatsApp Community?

A: We take your privacy seriously and comply with The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Personal data is only collected for administrative purposes, and sensitive information is kept confidential. More details can be found in our Privacy Policy.

Q: Can I control who sees my number in the group?

A: Unfortunately, WhatsApp groups reveal phone numbers to other members by default. If privacy is a concern, you might prefer interacting in one of our other channels where this can be managed differently.

Q: What’s the difference between a WhatsApp group and a WhatsApp channel?

A: In a WhatsApp group, members can interact with each other and have discussions. In a WhatsApp channel, communication is one-way, meaning only the admin can send messages while the members receive updates.

Q: How do I join Cody’s Broadcast channel?

A: Contact the admin or check the announcements for the broadcast link. Once you subscribe, you will receive regular updates, announcements, and key information directly.

6. Handling Technical Issues

Q: I’m having trouble receiving messages. What can I do?

A: If you are not receiving messages, try the following:

    • Ensure your phone is connected to the internet.

    • Update WhatsApp to the latest version.

    • Check if the group is muted.

    • Restart your phone if needed.

Q: How do I update my WhatsApp app?

A: On Android, go to the Google Play Store > My Apps & Games > Update WhatsApp.
On iOS, go to the App Store > Updates > Update WhatsApp.

Q: I can’t see the latest messages, what’s wrong?

A: This can happen due to poor internet connectivity. Ensure your phone is connected to a stable network and restart WhatsApp. If the issue persists, try clearing WhatsApp’s cache (Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Storage > Clear Cache).

Q: How do we handle prayer requests in the group?

A: Members are encouraged to share prayer requests in the designated channels (such as the Intercessors Network), or you can contact a group moderator to help direct the request appropriately. We ask that requests remain respectful of everyone’s privacy.

A: Yes, feel free to share Bible verses, devotions, and other content that aligns with the group’s faith-based purpose. Ensure that the content is respectful and encourages fellowship.
